Munich, March 2, 2016 – Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) has delivered the embedded SIM (eSIM) management solution for Vodafone Group’s first implementation of the industry-agreed Remote SIM Provisioning specification.

Barcelona, February 23, 2016 – As digital payments become more prevalent in every corner of the globe, MasterCard continues to work with its partners to create a more connected and secure commerce ecosystem. Today at Mobile World Congress, MasterCard and Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) announced a partnership that will combine the MasterCard Digital Enablement Service (MDES) with G&D’s Convego^® CloudPay solution, enabling issuers to work directly with G&D to implement industry-standard tokenization technology for their issuer HCE wallets. This provides consumers with access to digital payments provided directly by their card issuers. A leading mobile payment provider, G&D becomes the first third-party company to offer MDES tokenization services to issuing banks.

Munich and Barcelona, February 23, 2016 – Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) teamed up with Telefónica at the 2016 Mobile World Congress, which took place from February 22 to 25 in Barcelona, to introduce a solution for eSIM management in the consumer sector. A demonstration at the stand showed a Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch being integrated into an existing mobile communications contract using a smartphone. The user connects the smartwatch with his mobile via the Bluetooth interface, then scans a QR code. The additional device is then added to the existing data contract and immediately networked. The eSIM management solution is based on AirOn from G&D and enables the embedded SIM (eSIM) integrated in the smartwatch to be configured 'over the air'. Telefónica, building on AirOn from G&D, will launch the first commercial pilot project in April, offering the solution in several o2 shops. The offer will then include additional devices.

Munich, February 19, 2016 - G&D has been accredited to be a "Mobile Connect Technology Vendor" for its LicentioID solution by the GSMA. Designation as a "Mobile Connect Technology Vendor" confirms that a supplier is compliant with major elements of the GSMA's Mobile Connect solution. G&D’s end-to-end solution LicentioID covers both the service backend and the Mobile Device and SIM based applet.

Munich, February 19, 2016 – Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) has been certified by NXP Semiconductors for MIFARE DESFire^® EV1. This certification completes the product certification for MIFARE Classic^® and MIFARE4Mobile Version 2 which G&D received in 2015. G&D’s SIM platform SkySIM CX® Hercules now offers the entire MIFARE^® suite, thus enabling secure remote provisioning and management of MIFARE^®-based services for mobile network operators, trusted services managers and service providers.
